Police are accusing one man of quite a serious crime this week. Authorities say a central New York man is being charged with a violent crime of strangulation. This comes on top of charges of unlawful imprisonment and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, during what police say was a domestic incident. The incident happened in a town just north of Syracuse.

The man supposedly strangled another person, which is a felony, covered their face, put them in a car and drove off, holding the person's hands to prevent them from leaving the vehicle. He was also charged with more minor charges of leaving the scene of an accident that caused property damage and speeding. These charges are very serious and should not be taken lightly by the accused or the prosecutors in the case.

Reputations can be ruined by charges and accusations, causing personal and professional backlash, even before a person has a fair trial. Sometimes evidence in a case is taken out of context and prosecutors use aggressive tactics to secure a conviction. Those accused and charged with a crime, especially a violent crime, should use caution when talking to authorities as they may use what you say to them against you in court.

Consulting with a New York criminal defense attorney can help you protect your rights. They will be able to assist you through your legal process and work to minimize damage to your reputation while formulating a strong defense against the charges you may face.
